How to Listen to Audible on PC

1. Listen online

Audible has a cloud Player which lets you stream your titles online. Now It does work but the features are not the same as the app. I’ve experienced so many errors during the playbacks. Sometimes the player won’t load or it would start from the beginning. This should be an option only when you have no other choices.

Pros:

You can stream, download, add bookmarks Change playback speed.

Cons:

The cloud player crashes sometimes Doesn’t sync the position and bookmarks.

2. Use the Window 10 App

Now, If you have Windows 10, Audible is available on the Microsoft Store (sorry Mac users) and you can use that instead, to listen to your audiobooks. Downloading Audible for Windows 10 is easy. Press Start and go to Microsoft Store. Search ‘Audible’ and press Get. Alternativly you can click on this direct link.

Now you can search for your titles in the library or download new ones.

Pros

Easy to use UI Changle Playback speed, sleep timer, bookmarks etc Buy audiobooks from the app An additional tool called “Send a Book”

Cons

Available only for Windows 10 and Windows 8 Buggy Search feature

3. Using Android Emulator

If you don’t have Windows 10/8 on PC, there are still better workarounds. For Example, we can emulate the Android App with an emulator. There are so many free emulators available for your PC which you can use for running Audible. I’m going to use Nox emulator, it’s free and gets the job done. Go to Nox official website and click on the download button. The file is for 384 MB so shouldn’t take much time to download. Once Finished, install the setup You can either install apps from Google Play Store like you do on your Android smartphone or you can download the apk file from the web browser inside Nox and then install it. I prefer the second way, as it’s more convenient. On the home screen of Nox Player, you should see a Browser, click on it and go to Google and search for Audible android apk. In the search results, you should see a link from Apk mirror, click on that. Alternatively, you can use can copy paste this link.

  Pros:

Works with any windows version Audible Channels

Cons:

Performance is a little slow

There is another workaround if you wish to listen to your audiobooks on your MP3 player or old iPod. You would have to extract the files by pasting the following command in the Run Dialog Box. C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Packages\AudibleInc.AudibleforWindowsPhone_xns73kv1ymhp2\LocalState\Content The only problem is you would have to find a way to convert the aax files to mp3 first. OpenAudible is an opensource software which does just that. This is usually helpful when you have an older iPad with no Audible app. The setup is easy, once installed simply import the aax file and conversion process with a start when you click on the Audiobook.
